District Network and Internet Resources

 

The Munday CISD provides opportunities for students to have access through the Internet to electronic mail, databases, libraries, museums, and other information sources as part of its overall instructional program and for the purposes specified in the attached Network and Internet Use policy. Internet Safety Education, to prevent possible to harm to students (such as cyberbullying through social networks) will be provided to students, in accordance with CIPA. The administration or designated representatives will provide age-appropriate training for students who use the Munday CISD’s Internet facilities. The training provided will be designed to promote the Munday CISD’s commitment to:

a. The standards and acceptable use of Internet services as set forth in the Munday CISD’s Internet Safety Policy;

b. Student safety with regard to:

safety on the Internet;

appropriate behavior while on online, on social networking Web sites, and in chat rooms; and

Cyberbullying awareness and response.

c. Compliance with the E-rate requirements of the Children's Internet Protection Act ("CIPA").

Following receipt of this training, the student will acknowledge that he/she received the training, understood it, and will follow the provisions of the District's acceptable use policies.

 

 

I have read the Network and Internet Use policy [CQ (LOCAL)] attached to this agreement and understand the conditions for use of the network and Internet resources provided by the Munday CISD for the purpose of' promoting educational excellence and supporting instructional goals.

 

 

By my signature below, I consent to my child having access to the Internet through the Munday CISD network and release the school district from any responsibility for information my child may obtain in the course of using the Internet.

 

Further I agree that any use of the network and Internet under my child's user ID or account must be consistent with that policy.  I understand that district employees have the authority to monitor network usage, including electronic messages sent and received to ensure compliance with the policy, and by this Agreement consent to that access.

 

I understand that my child is responsible for any transactions that occur under his or her user ID or account, that any violation of that policy will be considered a violation of the Student Code of Conduct, and that my child may be denied access to the district's electronic resources in addition to any other disciplinary action.

STUDENT AGREEMEENT FOR ACCEPTABLE USE OF THE

MUNDAY CISD'S ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

 

 

You are being given access to the Munday CISD's electronic communications system.  Parents, please read this document carefully and discuss with your child before allowing him/her to participate in the District’s electronic communications system. Terms and conditions set forth in this Agreement and in Board of Trustees Policy CQ (legal) are expected to be followed. Policy CQ (legal) is available from the administration office and online at www.esc9.net/munday (see “Policy CQ”.)Through this system, you will be able to communicate with other schools, colleges, organizations, and people around the world through the Internet and other electronic information systems/networks.  You will have access to hundreds of databases, libraries, and computer services all over the world.

 

With this educational opportunity comes responsibility.  It is important that you read the Munday CISD policy, administrative regulations, and agreement form and ask questions if .you need help in understanding them. Inappropriate system use will result in the loss of the privilege to use this educational tool, or other disciplinary action.

 

Please note that the Internet is a network of many types of communication and information networks.  It is possible that you may run across areas of adult content and some material you (or your parents) might find objectionable. While the Munday CISD will take reasonable steps to restrict access to such material, (teachers will guide students towards appropriate materials), it is not possible to absolutely prevent such access.  It will be your responsibility to follow the rules for appropriate use.

 

*Any digital device connecting to the district network (laptops/netbooks, smartphones, iPods, etc.) must be inspected and approved as safe/appropriate for network use, by the district technology director or other administrator, and only used with express staff approval.

RULES OF APPROPPIATE USE

·        You will be assigned an individual account, and you are responsible for not sharing the password for that account with others.

·        The account is to be used mainly for identified educational purposes, but some limited personal use is permitted.

·        You will be held responsible at all times for the proper use of your account, and the Munday CISD may suspend or revoke your access if you violate the rules.

 

INAPPROPRIATE USES

·        Using the system for any illegal purpose. [Users shall not knowingly introduce a computer virus/spyware program into MCISD computers. Any student who suspects that his/her workstation has been infected by a virus shall IMMEDIATELY STOP ALL WORK, and notify his/her teacher.]

·        Borrowing someone's account without permission.

·        Posting personal information about you or others (such as addresses and phone numbers). [To protect the students and their family, access to MySpace/Facebook, and other related sites is blocked from MCISD systems. Knowingly accessing or hacking into these sites is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate and indefinite termination of privileges. Privileges may be reinstated at the discretion of the administration.]

·        Downloading or using copyrighted information without permission from the copyright holder.

·        Posting messages or accessing materials that are abusive, obscene, sexually oriented, threatening, harassing, damaging to another's reputation, or illegal.

·        Wasting school resources through the improper use of the computer system (streaming audio or video, without staff permission).

·        Gaining unauthorized access to restricted information or resources

·        Environmental hazards to hardware such as food or liquid around computer equipment is prohibited.  Students who neglect this duty may be accountable for any loss or damage that may result.

CONSEQUENCES FOR INAPPROPRIATE USE

·         Suspension of access to the system;

·         Revocation of the computer system account; or

·         Other disciplinary or legal action, in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and applicable laws.

The student agreement must be renewed each academic year.
